Sewing machine, utile and immersive

Our mothers often inherited the sewing machines of their mothers. Those were expensive sturdy things.

Today 200$ (or less...) will buy pretty interesting devices.

Singer electronic sewing machine.
This (ask me how do I know ...) or alike model, is packed with very interesting stitching options that go far beyond what the usual straight and zigzag will achieve.

Re-attaching a torn bit of lace, fixing a loose elastic band, refurbishing a vintage bra or girdle from the thrift store is not only easily feasible with the appropriate stitch pattern but also extremely immersive.

Overcoming a poking underwire or going for your next tiered petticoat project is both satisfactory and very feminine.

Ordinary sewing and repair works are not that difficult and the interweb is full of detailed examples and other tips and tricks from "sewing divas". Learning by doing, all it takes is practice.

Open cup bras, anyone ?

Sewing abilities can be a handy conversation starter since most modern spouses / partners have no training in this department.

-Let me fix it for you, I know how to...

-What, you also know how to operate a sewing machine ?

Depending on the diplomatic purpose of the conversation, sky's the limit ...
