Who's Who

Nouns are often confused when opposite gender clothes get involved in the process.

From experience, the following classification could help:
Big pink round question mark.
  • Drag Queen: Denotes a male adopting an exaggerated female behavior while wearing female clothes as fashion statement, humor, carnival or burlesque activities.
  • Transvestite: An outdated now term, coined in the 1900 by “head shrinks” to denote the putative psychopathic aspects of any biological man wearing female clothes for whatever reason.
  • Cross-dresser: Actual designation of a person wearing opposite's sex clothes since psychopathists don't officially consider the phenomenon as an “illness” anymore (ahem.. careful, milege can vary).
  • Transgender: Simply stated, a person born in the wrong body gender.

  1. Transgender is used to refer to Transvestite, Crossdresser, and Transsexual which is what you describe Transgender as being.

    1. Kind of spot on except for an "unfit to publish" detail. I don't deal with transgender specific issues.

Difference is that TG people are born in the wrong body and will attempt to their great merit to correct that mishap by all, inclusive surgical means. A monumental task, my respects.

Cross-dressers are not taking the situation that further. Most of them are happy to be both genders, at will.

Hope I clarified my point, please feel free to comment further ;)

Hugs Sis, I love you all !
