A 528 $ power-slip foundation shaper ? Nonsensical and useless.

So Girls, X-mas is on the commercial horizon. It's quite cold too.

So let's try to find a nice comfy you-name-it to wear under my auntie dresses for those long dull office days.

I sure have already quite some full-slips and shapers however this is always a welcome-on-board topic. Being hugged all day, what to ask more ? Time to dwell interweb.

Happens that this "La Perla" foundation power-slip sold not long ago for a whopping 528 $ pile of cash. Wow.

Happens equally that today it can be had for as little as 30 $ or so. WTF?

Ok it's laser cut. Great, but would that justify the astronomical price-tag? Nope. Fact is that today lots of things are cut bs laser, this is a flexible and rather cheap for mass-production method. How do I know? Well Ladies, I'm a contractor and might have programmed quite some of those.

Exit the laser price booster justification.

Are those stripes supposed to be the ultimate of all structural reinforcements less the rigidity of bones and springs? Let's take a closer look.

None of those artistic cuts are on the back. Lumbar support and waist shaping are not part or their intended purpose. Good to know.

A closer examination reveals that these features are power-net based add-on reinforcements sewn on the inside of the structure.

Which is how they could provide a directional elasticity control in those areas.

The whole would be easier to stretch in a direction perpendicular to the cuts, area where only the power-net provides resistance.

While a longitudinal pull force would benefit the contribution of both power-net and fabric.

Hey that sounds fine, doesn't it ? Well. Not quite so given the lack of structural understanding involved in the engineering of this undergarment.

As revealed by a closer look at the "tummy panel" section.

Opposed to the waist portion just above it, the tummy is easier to expand in the horizontal direction. Yep.

No problem M'aam, you can eat all cabbage you want, no discomfort, guaranteed even after that many ice cold diet cokes.

Just don't stretch your arms too high or your underdress might ride all the way up and roll just below your boobs.

This is what happens when you try to mimic a properly boned well structured front girdle panel by an exotic mix of modern art and laser cutting.

No wonder why those otherwise well sewn (hey, this is La Perla !) slips sell now in the 30 $ range.

Which is actually quite unfair. I mean, it's a very original approach if we forgive the Egyptian art inspired décolleté and the equally structurally dysfunctional bra section.

Hips get a better score as someone has successfully copied what Rago did since internet exists.

So yes, the typical La Perla microfiber like resilient elastic fabric, hidden reinforcements, large straps, quality of manufacture less the cutouts would be a treat to wear with a better less minimizing bra section.

So no wonders it sells in the 30 bucks price range instead of the originally intended 528 $ tag.

Hey, next time you hit a design milestone, there are Sissies with engineering training and, take my words, we're happy to help.
