We also use battery operated power tools for their intended purpose. With a more feminine rationale than 200 pounds gorilla would.
Lithium batteries are very sensitive to heat.
Temperatures above 40C (104 F) will seriously impact their lifespan, the number of charge cycles they can withstand before loosing capacity.
A very easy way to charge power tools batteries at lower temperatures is to simply place the charger upside-down on a cold surface, like floor tile or kitchen marble top.
Chargers generate quite some heat and, in their normal position, that is battery atop of the charger, will warm the battery.
Placing the battery down on a cold surface inverts the process. The heat generated by the charger creates an updraft and contributes to bring cold air to the battery.
What about chargers with forced convection, those claiming to have a cooling fan ?
Often times this fan is intended to cool the charger and has little or no effect on the battery temperature. On some models it will actually blow warm air from the charger to the battery.
So Girls, a neat easy way to save on batteries and invest into that skirt/shoes to die for ;)
