Toxic adult sextoys, danger ahead !

Looks cute, doesn't it ? Keep reading...

Soft and silky to the touch, undeniable Sissy pinkish redish color, a temptation candy.

First use was disappointing. Uneasy feeling roughly 15 minutes in the process. Yes, it was thoroughly washed and disinfected before use, well lubed gently put in place.

No go.

The strong cesspool smell that emanated from it after use was nauseating no matter how well washed with protein and fat removing detergent. Funny enough, bleach made things even worse.

Was it made of low quality somehow porous material that retains substances like a microscopic sponge ?

Logical consequence it went in the trash.

A couple of day later I phoned a good friend, confident and coincidently plastic molding engineer.

Horror ensued.

Those soft silky rubbery toys are often made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU).

Polyether based TPU's have a very good resistance to water and microbes but are more expensive and somehow harder to inject than polyester ones.

Logically an extremely low cost factory would use polyester instead of polyether, no matter the consequences.

And stuff it with phthalates, a nasty substance used to render TPU's soft and elastic.

The problem is that phthalates do not bind with the polymer. They are mechanically trapped in the polymer alike in a sponge. Waiting for the right conditions to break free.

Wet and hot environments significantly accelerate the decay process.

Phthalates are highly irritating and foul smelling nasty chemicals largely incompatible with human tissues.

Be warned, no matter how cute they might look, such toys are in fact dangerous. Irritating and, cherry on the cake, carcinogen.

How to tell if your toys are safe ?

Immerse them in hot water, even better, boil toys with no mechanisms or batteries inside.

If hot water renders them smelly then they belong to the landfill.

In any case better use a condom.
